Challenges & Learnings

Template Use VS.
Client Expectations:

Expanding Creative
Capabilities:

Knowledge Transfer
At Scale:

Establishing an internal wiki was key to improving transparency, reducing repetitive questions, and accelerating onboarding.

It also empowered all departments to work
more independently and consistently.

While template-based workflows improved internal efficiency, some external clients required strict adherence to their own brand guidelines.

This experience highlighted the importance of balancing structured design systems with the flexibility needed for custom solutions.

> The Lesson:
Templates significantly speed up internal workflows and standardized outputs. However, client-specific requests require flexibility and adaptability to ensure both quality and satisfaction.

> The Lesson:
A well-organized internal knowledge base reduces friction and increases self-sufficiency. It benefits not only the design team, but also cross-functional collaboration across departments.

To complement the team’s strong graphic design background, I proposed and supported the hiring of a motion designer in Kuala Lumpur.

This helped us cover video- and animation production needs internal and external and reduced dependency on non specialized staff.

> The Lesson:
Putting the right talent in the right role increases efficiency and raises overall quality. Specialized professionals can fill strategic gaps and even unlock new creative opportunities.

Managing Across Time Zones
& Cultures:

Designing a Cross-Media
Rebrand:

Introducing New Media Formats During the Pandemic:

With the shift toward digital formats during the pandemic, I took the lead in designing and launching new media touchpoints – including the company’s virtual event platform and a branded podcast series.

This required both conceptual thinking and hands-on execution to ensure a seamless user experience and brand alignment.

Leading a team based in Kuala Lumpur while collaborating with departments spread across Europe, while working from Berlin required careful planning and communication.

Rather than seeing the time difference as a barrier, we embraced asynchronous processes and clear expectations.

> The Lesson:
Time difference doesn't matter – planning does. With the right systems in place, global collaboration can feel local.

> The Lesson:
Cross-media design requires more than visual consistency – it’s about creating meaningful experiences that work across platforms while staying true to the brand.

During the company's rebranding phase, our creative team played an active role in translating the new identity across all media types – from print to digital, from event spaces to social media.

This required tight coordination and a deep understanding of the brand's new direction.

> The Lesson:
A consistent brand experience across channels is only possible when design, content, and context are aligned – regardless of the medium.
